Role and Scope of Work
The Physician Alliance will play an important role in physician education and in working with the NYQA to represent physician interests in the projects data collection methods, aggregation process and measurement reporting processes, the PA is committed to working jointly with the NYQA to develop fair, reasonable practices and scoring standards for a demonstration project, funded by the New York State Department of Health over the next two years. The long-term goal of the PA will be to work with the NYQA stakeholders to develop sustainable policies and procedures for quality improvement to impact patient care and safety in a cost - effective fashion.
The PA will develop a core educational curriculum for training primary care physicians on the NYQA measurement and reporting components of the project. The program will include a Quality of Care Performance and Measurement overview, national quality organizations and standards, NYSDOH P4P Demonstration projects, selected HEDIS measures, best practice materials and the coding tools. The training will involve web-based materials, performance improvement tools, coding tools and other resources. The educational materials are available on the web, on CD ROMs, and will be incorporated into traditional lectures modalities. Presentations will be offered at hospital grand rounds, professional conferences, specialty meetings, and seminars that will be geared both towards the physician and the office staff.
